Okay, this is the first 10 1/4 inch Red Venetian Art-Craft vase lamp in this section. I have chosen to give it a separate page because it is a little different that the other Red Venetian listed here.
It started out exactly as the other one did, having the red paint applied to the inside of a clear vase, which is then fired to fuse the paint. Later the gold paint is hand applied around the edge of the vase and the three large toes (feet).
What makes it different however is that an iridescent finish has also been applied to the outside of the vase as well. That finish is what caused the rainbow colored blotch in the photo. While it appears to be a flaw in the finish it isn't. In fact the effect was quite intentional and will not appear unless the light is just at the right angle.
If I turned the vase, and changed the angle of the lighting, the rainbow effect in this photo would disappear although it would probably appear in an entirely different location on the lamp.
Okay, forgive the reflection of the table cloth on this photo, but it was a hurried photo just to illustrate my point. This is the same lamp that is in the photo above, however the lighting angle is a little different. You can see how the rainbow color has moved right along with the lighting.
It is quite similar to the 12 inch Bengal Red vase lamp. In fact personally I choose to call it a 10 1/4 inch Bengal Red vase lamp, which is why I gave it this page. I can do that when it's my web site! Truly, whatever you chose to call it, it is different from the other Red Venetian Art-Craft vase lamp you will see on another page.
